ISLAMABAD, Jan 14(APP): The Federal Minister for Communications, Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil has said that the government of Pakistan Peoples Party, in addition to constructing world-class highways, also aims to provide world standard recreation parks on the adjoining areas of highways, to provide a pleasant atmosphere to the people. He expressed these views in his address at an impressive ground breaking ceremony of the Way Zoo Park near Kallar Kahar Interchange at M-2. The Federal Minister said that this largest recreational park of Pakistan will be a gift from the government of PPP to the people of Pakistan. On this occasion an elaborate briefing was given to the Federal minister and it was told that this would be a world-class recreational park having a zoo and all recreational facilities for the public. A sum of Rs. 1.25 billion will be spent on its first phase and it will span over an area of 400 acres. It will be completed in two and half years and it will be formally opened to the general public in June 2011. The phase-I of the park will span over an area of 220 acres and 60 percent of it has already been completed. The driving force behind this grand project is Chaudhry Muzaffar Nadeem, whereas Mr. Shafqat Ayaz is the Chief Executive. The Consultants of this project are M/s ACES whose Chief Executive is Brigadear ( R) Dr. Khaleequr-Rasheed Kiani. The Federal Minister further said that this park will not only boost tourism activities, but it will also generate employment for the local population. He said that exclusive attention is being given to make this park a major attraction for foreign tourists. Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan Khalil said that every possible boarding and recreational facility will be provided to the local and foreign tourists in this park and it will be our endeavour to build more such parks along Motorways. The Federal Minister said that only healthy nations can posses’ healthy minds. He said that we are working to fulfil the mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto.
